Service Awards 2013

Celeste Koraeniewski presented our service awards.

The Lancaster/Depew Girls and Boys Club will use our award to send four girls to the Smart Girls Program summer camp.  The goal of the camp is to develop a positive emotional and social well-being with healthy attitudes and lifestyles.  Susan and Joann Thaesler accepted the award.

The Nativity Miguel Middle School of Buffalo will use our service dollars to help with tuition for young ladies at the school.  The dedicated staff and personal mentoring of these ladies provide them with greater educational opportunities.  Nancy Langer and two of her students accepted the award.

The Sisterhood Wellness Center was represented by Karen Hajiaskari and Kelly Harvey.  Our service money will sponsor two women to attend the next retreat.  The Sisterhood Wellness Center seeks to provide an environment for breast cancer survivors with emotional, spiritual and physical healing through education, association and recreation.

The Summer Institute for Human Rights was represented by Stephanie O’Donald.  The service dollars they receive will be used to send two students from St. Monica’s School to the Institute.  The Institute strongly believes that education can change the world.  The theme of the Institute is Resistance:  Our Time is Now.  It will highlight historic and current human rights defenders.

The Buffalo VA Medical Center Women’s Wellness Center.  Our donation of WALMART gift cards will aid homeless women of the VA.

In addition, it should be noted that 33% of our service money goes to Zonta International service efforts.
