In 2011, our club participated in six service projects.

Junior League of Buffalo Tours

Our club members helped out the Junior League of Buffalo and gave tours of the Decorator’s Show House on Depew Avenue in Buffalo.

Relay for Life

For the past few years, our club was in charge of the basket tent at the Relay for Life at Lancaster High School. We received lovely thank you notes saying that if it were not for our club’s help, they would not have been able to make over $1,000 dollars.

Adopt-A-Highway

For many years, we have cleaned up our portion of Broadway in the Adopt-A-Highway program.

Birthing Kits

Upon completion of our first 1,000 birthing kits we can be very proud of how well our kit assembly went and that we have already begun distributing our kits. Read more.

Haven House

During December, our club donates many items of clothing for women and children. These donations are given to Haven House, a domestic violence shelter.

Family Justice Center

Mary Travers Murphy was our keynote speaker at our Lucky Numbers Luncheon in April. She is the Executive Director of the Family Justice Center.

Mary explained that 9,200 domestic violence reports were filed last year in Erie County. It is believed only one out of seven instances of domestic abuse are actually reported. Mary also told us that the new satellite office is located at 4383 South Buffalo Street, and is the result of the community’s drive and determination to honor the memory of the late Assiya Zubair Hassan, who tragically lost her life as a victim of domestic violence just two years ago.

Our Zonta Club was thanked for providing $5,000 for these victims of Domestic Violence.
