Members of Zonta Cheektowaga-Lancaster donate many hours of their time during the year in carrying out service projects that affect women of all ages.  From participation in projects at Elderwood, which serves senior women, to projects with Girl Power, ages 7-14.  Zonta is making an impact in the local community.  We are always looking for new organizations to partner with that support the Zonta mission.  If you have a project you would like to propose, contact us on email at [email protected]

Some examples of  community service projects include:

Support of the Family Justice Center

The Club supports the Family Justice Center and their awesome work with the WNY community.  Members pooled their resources to make a donation of household and personal care needs.

Elderwood

Five or six times a year, Zontians visited the Elderwood complex to engage senior women in a host of activities, providing a fun night out for both the residents and the Zontians who participated.

Girl Power – Cheektowaga Youth and Recreation

Zonta Cheektowaga-Lancaster recently partnered with Girl Power sponsored by Cheektowaga Youth and Recreation.  Zontians worked with girls ages 7-14 in addressing life skills through the planning and organizing of Mother/Daughter Tea.  The girls with guidance, were responsible for developing, planning and implementing a tea in which their mothers, or a significant person in their life, was invited to attend.

During another event, the girls learned about entrepreneurial skills through a young business woman who creates jewelry and sells her products throughout the United States.  Girls were also invited to create a bracelet during the session.  Each bracelet was just as unique as each of the girls.
